Bill Koehnlein

Head Interior Designer

Bill graduated from the Kendall School of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1992 with a degree in design. After graduating, he started working for his father, Walter, at Collaborative Design, moving the company in a new direction from commercial to residential interiors.

Bill has years of experience working as the lead designer for many clients. He spares no expense when pursuing architectural detail in every project he takes on.

As a visionary, Bill ensures that each client’s dreams are made into reality and that every client has the beautiful and artistic home they desire. He is excited about the future of Collaborative Design, with many new and fun projects on the horizon.

Andrea Koehnlein

General Manager

Andrea graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. As General Manager at Collaborative Design, she oversees the business’s daily operations. She loves to be busy and ensures the company runs smoothly and all customers are happy.

Outside of work, Andrea enjoys the outdoors. In gorgeous weather, she loves to go hiking and take her bike out for a ride.

Project Manager Rick Kohnlein

Rick Koehnlein

Lead Project Manager

Rick is a co-owner of Collaborative Design. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Science, majoring in Communications.

His role in the remodeling department includes expediting and estimating incoming jobs to ensure every project runs smoothly.

Rick has also been a finished carpenter for several years.   He also enjoys camping, fishing, and hunting.

Maia Koehnlein

Architect and Interior Designer

Maia is an Architect and Interior Designer who joined the Collaborative Design team in 2019.

She earned her master’s degree in Architecture at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.

While her interests are broad, design has always been her passion. She loves using her instincts to create artful, humanistic spaces. Informed by her work in the visual arts, she strives to elevate every room by attending to proportion, light, and color.

Maia is aided by a lifelong familiarity with the tools of interior design. While she continues to hone her skills, her design and style are influenced by unity and depth.

In her off time, Maia enjoys painting en plein air, sewing, and getting together with friends.

Laura Nicloy

Interior Designer

Laura joined the Collaborative Design team in 2004 and has since been involved in all aspects of design in residential and commercial projects.

She loves to offer her expert advice to each one of her clients.

While having a well-trained eye for quality, Laura is best known for her sense of color and ability to deliver a comprehensive understanding of other clients’ needs and expectations.

Outside work, she loves to hang out with her two kids and her husband, Matt.

Annette Sobczak

Residential Designer

Annette graduated from UW-Milwaukee’s School of Architecture and Urban Planning.

She joined the Collaborative team after 25 years of raising five children while working from home on residential projects such as home design, remodeling, additions, kitchens, and more.

Annette grew up in a large extended family that operated a business selling building products and has been interested in residential architecture since her high school drafting classes.

She enjoyed her five-month architectural study abroad program in Paris, where they took a class at the `Ecole d’Architecture and traveled throughout Europe.

Annette specializes in space planning, organization, and conceptual master plan layouts. She favors Scandinavian and minimalist design but appreciates all styles, and in a dream world, she would own a home in each style.
